Utility Debt Hits Record High: The Main Reason for Millions of Lawsuits Revealed.


Ukrainian Courts in 2024: Statistical Data Analysis
In the previous year, more than 3 million cases were resolved in the courts of Ukraine, including 298 thousand cases related to payment for utility services. This information was published with the help of analytical data by representatives of 'Opendatabot'.
The structure of the cases heard differed from the previous year. The number of criminal cases increased by 1.6 times, reaching 528 thousand, while civil cases rose by 7%, totaling 1 million. At the same Time, the number of cases in economic and administrative courts decreased, and cases of administrative offenses fell by 5%.
The research also showed that among civil cases, lawsuits regarding utility debts were the most common, making up 28% of all civil cases. Significant portions also included cases related to loans and credits - 126 thousand (12%), and divorces - 120 thousand (11.5%).
In various judicial institutions, specific trends were observed. For instance, administrative courts handled the most cases related to social issues for former civil servants, pensioners, and participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. Economic courts more frequently resolved issues concerning injunction proceedings, supply of goods and services, as well as energy resources.
Analyzing the statistical data, one can conclude that the number of court cases in 2024 increased compared to the previous year. This also indicates changes in the types of cases being resolved in the country's judicial system and potential problematic issues that require attention and resolution.
