Finland called for tightening sanctions against Russia
The Foreign Minister of Finland, Pekka Haavisto, expressed the opinion that sanctions against Russia, which continues to wage war in Ukraine, should be strengthened. According to her, one effective way would be to lower the price of Russian oil from the current $60 per barrel.
The minister noted that the market price of oil has fallen in recent weeks, so it is necessary to lower the price ceiling, possibly even to $40. This will help reduce Russia's oil revenues and complicate financing for military operations.

Finland, along with other Nordic countries and the Baltic States, has already proposed lowering the price ceiling at the beginning of the year. This ceiling is set by the G7 countries. Haavisto noted that many G7 participants are ready for this, but it all depends on the position of the United States.
According to her, European Union foreign ministers will approve the 17th package of sanctions against Russia on Tuesday, aimed at Russia's shadow fleet.
