Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Marchenko resigns from the army due to deteriorating health
Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Marchenko, leader of the defense of Mykolaiv during the Russian aggression, announced on Facebook his resignation from the army. He explained that he made this decision due to poor health.
No trials from the enemy, no pressure forced me to stop in my unwavering fight for Ukraine. Thus, resigning from service became the most difficult decision I have made in my life
The Major General noted that he is currently under treatment: "I am undergoing necessary treatment. After all, even the steadfast sometimes need a bit of mending to stay afloat. In the end, service in the army always requires sacrificing health. And without timely recovery, everything can be in vain."
I thank all the comrades, friends, and sisters I have met along my path! I thank all the people of Mykolaiv and Kherson, the Armed Forces, security forces, police, and the State Emergency Service, doctors and restaurateurs, businessmen, local and regional government bodies, ordinary people who stood shoulder to shoulder and repelled the enemy - for incredible heroism in those horrific days of February-March 2022! I thank every Ukrainian soldier and officer for the fact that together we fight the enemy, regardless of unimaginable fatigue and any forecasts and "analytics"
Marchenko also noted that he still has a long road ahead in the fight for Ukraine and he will continue to do everything he can. He launched the Dmytro Marchenko Charitable Foundation.
