In Vinnytsia Region, a Woman Grows Tropical Fruits.

Alena Raku, a resident of the village of Yaryshiv in the Vinnytsia region, grows tropical fruits and shares her successful experience in cultivating citrus fruits, figs, passion fruits, and papayas. For over 20 years, she has been harvesting impressive yields on her farm.
She pays special attention to growing figs, which require careful handling, especially during the winter period. Alena grows several varieties of this tree both in a greenhouse and in open soil, consistently producing two harvests a year.
“We have 5-6 varieties. We were together with my husband in Transcarpathia, and they shared cuttings with us there. A fairly good variety. We continue to cultivate it because it has taken root in our area. The problem is that figs in our regions can freeze in winter, so the main goal is to save the shoots. The fig gives two harvests. It is quite an undemanding plant, the only problem is the frosts. It practically grows on its own,” Raku explained.
