Occupants launched over a hundred drones at Ukraine at night: how the air defense responded.


Russian invaders attacked Ukraine
On the night of March 8-9, 2025, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine using 119 Shahed-type UAVs and various types of imitator drones from different directions. This was reported by 'Glavkom' with reference to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The drones were launched from Oryol, Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Chauda.
«As of 09:00, the destruction of 73 Shahed-type UAVs and other types of drones has been confirmed in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions,» the report states.
Additionally, 37 enemy imitator drones were lost in terms of location without negative consequences.
As a result of the enemy attack, six regions were affected: Donetsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia.
Strikes on critical infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia
In the evening of March 8, Russian terrorists struck critical infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia. As a result, gas consumption has been limited. Currently, rescuers are working at the scene to eliminate the aftermath of the attack.
Also, at night, Russian UAVs attacked the Izyum and Chuguev districts of Kharkiv. In the village of Balakliya, two drones hit an educational institution, damaging houses, administrative buildings, a hospital, a café, and vehicles. A fire also broke out, covering an area of 50 m². In the village of Kochetok, a children's institution building was damaged, and a fire broke out in its structural elements.
