Near the border with Slovakia, a deputy of the banned OPZZH was detained (updated).


Border guards detained a man accused of justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The detainee turned out to be a deputy of one of the city councils of the Cherkasy region. Border guards found him near the protective fence at the state border with Slovakia.
According to the State Border Guard Service, the man was brought to the border unit with the purpose of administrative responsibility. The deputy of the banned OPZZH party is under house arrest. He is suspected of justifying the war crimes of the Russian Federation and denying armed aggression against Ukraine.
During the investigation, it was revealed that he supported Kremlin policies and spread pro-Russian narratives regarding Ukraine. It was also established that the suspect was in contact with the former People's Deputy of Ukraine from the Party of Regions, Volodymyr Oliynyk.
On August 7, the accused was given a preventive measure in the form of house arrest with the wearing of an electronic control device. He was detained while trying to illegally cross the border with Slovakia.
