The Ukrainian delegation arrived in Washington on Friday for a new round of negotiations regarding the agreement on Ukraine's natural resources, which has caused controversy with the United States, reports The New York Times. President Trump considers this agreement a way to 'reimburse' prior American aid to Ukraine, while President Zelensky hopes to receive defense guarantees from the US. It has become known that the new proposal from the US reverts to Trump's demands for the reimbursement of billions of dollars received by Ukraine in aid. Additionally, it is expected that Ukraine will have to allocate half of its income from natural resource projects to an investment fund controlled by the US. There are no security guarantees for Ukraine mentioned in the new proposal. Ukraine is responding cautiously to American demands, trying to maintain a constructive dialogue. Kyiv is seeking consultants to protect its national interests in this agreement.
