Five citizens of Ukraine, who set off to Romania with the intention of crossing the border through the mountains, have been missing for more than 20 days. Romanian rescuers, along with border police, began searching for the young Ukrainians on Friday, January 31. The families of the missing have made an official request for help, as they have not received any news from them for 20 days.
The Maramureș rescue service reported that the missing young people may have taken certain routes that could have led them to the dangerous area of Mount Pip Ivan. Currently, the search has been suspended, but plans are to continue it when more information about the missing is available.
Earlier, three Ukrainians were rescued in Romania who got stuck in the Maramureș mountains. Additionally, a tourist who wandered in the Carpathians for ten days was found in the Transcarpathian region.
