The 'Warrior of Light'. A titled Ukrainian athlete died in the war.


Yesterday, April 22, 2025, Lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commander of a platoon of the mechanized company of the mechanized battalion – Suong Artem Thea, was killed in the combat zone near Orikhovo-Vasylivka in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. This was reported by 'Glavkom', citing the Sports Committee of Ukraine.
Artem Suong was born on July 25, 1996, in Kyiv. He began his sports career at the Brovary sports school of wushu, where he was trained by the Honored Coach of Ukraine, Andriy Koval.
Friends called him the 'warrior of light' and remember him as a source of support and joy in the darkest moments. 'You always radiated joy, supported others in the hardest moments, and never gave up. You will forever remain in our hearts and memory. On the shield...'
A well-known choreographer and ballet master Viktor Voynikov also died at the front, having dedicated over 20 years to perfecting the art of dance in Ukraine. Viktor Voynikov was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2023.
Both of these cases remind once again of the great price Ukraine pays for its heroes who gave their lives to protect the country.
During combat operations, the Ukrainian lieutenant and the renowned choreographer died, paying the ultimate price for their devotion to the country. Their contribution and sacrifice remind of the heroism and dedication of Ukraine's defenders.Read also
